Transformer rectifiers are used to convert ac voltage into dc voltage. Due to progressive advancements in the switch mode technology transformer rectifiers are being replaced with switch mode power supplies everywhere. But transformer rectifiers still have some advantages over switch mode versions. Transformer rectifier have higher surge rating, low noise making them perfect for signal uses and longer life than switch mode power supplies.
